How it works
Gentle by design.
GetOvr is built around one idea: you heal faster when you're not doing it alone — and when you stay in control of who you talk to and what you share.
- 01
Tell us your story
Onboarding asks one gentle question per screen — how long you were together, when it ended, what's hardest, and what would help. Sensitive questions can be skipped. Your answers are used to find people you may relate to and are never shown publicly unless you choose to share them.
- 02
Receive thoughtful introductions
Each week you receive a small number of introductions — three on the free plan. Each card explains in plain words why you might connect. We never show compatibility percentages, and we never invent people to make things look busy. If nobody suitable is around yet, we'll tell you honestly.
- 03
Connect only when you both agree
Ask to connect, or simply pass. The other person can accept or decline — and declining is private. A private conversation opens only when you've both said yes. If someone declines, they won't be suggested to you again.
- 04
Talk at your own pace
Conversation starters help when you don't know what to say. There's no pressure to reply. You can turn off read receipts and online status, mute a conversation, end a connection, block or report — at any time.
What GetOvr is not
It isn't a dating app, and it isn't therapy. GetOvr is peer support and self-help. If you're struggling to cope, please reach out to a professional — our safety page lists free, confidential support lines.
