Privacy policy

Draft document. This page is a starting point and must be reviewed by a qualified legal professional before GetOvr launches publicly.

Your breakup story, your messages and your reflections are deeply personal. We treat them as sensitive information and collect only what we need to run GetOvr.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address and sign-in method.
  • Profile details you choose to give: a display name, age, country, a short introduction.
  • Onboarding answers: relationship length, when it ended, what you're finding hard, what would help, and your goals.
  • Matching preferences, connection requests, and the private messages you send.
  • Reports you make, and basic technical information needed to keep the service secure.

How we use it

To create your account, suggest people you may relate to, deliver your messages, keep the community safe, and improve GetOvr. We do not sell your data, and we do not use your messages for advertising.

Who can see what

  • Other members only see the profile details you've chosen to make visible.
  • Your breakup details are only shown on your card if you switch on "share my story".
  • Private messages are visible only to the people in that conversation.
  • Our team does not read private messages by default. When a message is reported or automatically flagged, authorised moderators can view that message and a small amount of surrounding context to investigate. Every such access is logged.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can access, correct, export or delete your data, and object to or restrict how we use it. You can change most settings yourself in the app. To make any other request, contact us via the contact page.

Keeping data safe

Data is stored with a managed infrastructure provider, encrypted in transit, and protected by strict access rules so each person can only access their own information.
