Looking for a Mend alternative?

If Mend helped you through a hard time and you've gone looking for it again, you're not doing anything wrong, the app has closed. Here's what happened, what to look for next, and where GetOvr fits in.

What happened to Mend

Mend was a well-loved heartbreak app, known for short audio lessons and journaling. In February 2024 the team announced they would close the app, and it shut on 31 March 2024. Subscribers were moved to Mend Classes, which the team said would run until the end of 2025. You can read their own explanation on the Mend FAQ.

If you were partway through recovering when it closed, that can feel like one more loss. It's okay to look for something new.

What to look for next

Is it made for breakups?

General calm or mood apps can help, but heartbreak has its own shape: the urge to check their profile, the evenings that feel longest, the questions you can't answer yet. Something built for breakups meets you there.

Will you feel less alone?

Trackers and lessons are useful. What many people miss most is someone who actually gets it. Look for a way to talk to real people, not only a screen of tips.

Do you stay in control?

You should decide what you share, who you talk to and when you step away. Blocking, reporting and pausing should be easy and free.

Is it honest about what it is?

Peer support and self-help can make a real difference, but they aren't therapy. A good app says so, and points you to proper help when you need it.

How GetOvr offers peer support

GetOvr is built around one idea: you heal faster when you're not doing it alone. Instead of only lessons, it introduces you to real people going through a similar breakup, so you can talk to someone who understands.

  1. 01

    Tell us your story

A few gentle questions: how long you were together, when it ended, what's hardest. Sensitive questions can be skipped.

  2. 02

    Get a few thoughtful introductions

Three a week on the free plan, each with a plain explanation of why you might connect. No percentages, no endless swiping.

  3. 03

Connect only when you both agree

A private conversation opens only when you've both said yes. Declining is private and kind.

  4. 04

    Talk at your own pace

No pressure to reply. Mute, end a connection, block or report at any time.

Safe, and kind, by design

Common questions

Is GetOvr the same as Mend?

No. GetOvr is a separate, new service with no link to Mend or its team. Some newer apps use the word Mend in their names, but the original Mend app is no longer available.

Is GetOvr a dating app?

No. GetOvr introduces you to people for support while you recover, not for romance. Everyone is 18 or over, and nobody can message you unless you've both agreed to connect.

How much does it cost?

GetOvr is free to use, including three new introductions a week and every safety tool. GetOvr Plus, at $9.99 a week, will add more introductions and extra features. It isn't available to buy yet.

What if nobody suitable is around yet?

GetOvr is new and growing. We only introduce you to real people who fit your story and preferences, and we never invent members to look busy. If nobody suitable is around yet, we'll tell you honestly.

Is this a replacement for therapy?

No. GetOvr is peer support and self-help. If you're finding it hard to cope, please speak to a professional. Our safety page lists free, confidential support lines.
